Mott MacDonald is looking for a Utilities Engineer in Raleigh, NC. As a Utility engineer, you will be involved with utility projects, but will also have exposure to different rail, roadway, and civil infrastructure projects. Not only will you be involved in a wide range of responsibilities, but you'll also have the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills.
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:
Assists in the preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, studies, and designs for projects.
Receives objectives and technical advice from supervisor and project team leads.
Compiles and computes a variety of engineering data.
Work collaboratively with the design team to develop detailed design documents for construction plans.
Perform relocation design of municipal and private third-party utilities on civil infrastructure projects.
Review interface designs against existing and proposed utility infrastructure and work collaboratively with various project teams to resolve conflicts.
Prepare plans, and details and develop engineering drawings, specifications, and other project deliverables.
Work with utility coordination staff that handle the dry utility relocations on projects
Attend project meetings, and prepare agendas and meeting minutes.
Must have the ability to work on multiple unique assignments simultaneously.
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:
Bachelor's in Engineering-related degree
5-10 years experience in transportation or civil engineering.
Engineering design background, preferably utilities, drainage, roadway, land development, or municipal engineering.
Proficiency with CAD particularly MicroStation and OpenRoads.
Familiarity with NCDOT design standards and policies.
Familiarity with engineering software such as GEOPAK Drainage, AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS, and other engineering software is a plus.
Technical background and project experience demonstrating the potential to grow into a design role in the transportation field.
Written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
Occasional travel and will require a Driver's License.
